![]() ![]() I definitely want to talk with others about 70s and 80s idols but unfortunately the people online that I've met have only very specific likes (Pink Lady, Onyanko Club, Nakamori Akina, Matsuda Seiko) but don't really like any of the other artists of the period especially New Music/non-idols like Anri, Anzenchitai, Kome Kome Club, Boowy, Kikawa Koji, Takeuchi Maria or Tanimura Shinji. That's one reason why that particular thread died is that aside from the novelty of listening to these songs, no one really cared about the artists or their history and background. I for one am a kid from the 80s so I remember listening to these songs as a young teen and so there's some nostalgic sentimentality for me when listening to artists like Oginome Yoko, Saito Yuki, Wink, Kikuchi Momoko and Nakayama Miho etc. I think it's rare that you'll encounter guys like yourself, Kosuke_Asami, Higemania and others who are younger guys but fans of the older music. Most JPop fans now are rather young and only recently got into JPop within the last 10+ years and few if any were even born at around the time these songs were popular. I think fans like us are in the minority. Sad that the 70s/80s thread died there but it wasn't all that surprising. In February 2021, Timberlake apologized to Jackson and Britney Spears in a long Instagram statement, saying, "I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.Hey どいんきぃず - Always enjoyed your posts over at JPopMusic. "The move had a huge impact on sales of her album 'Damita Jo,' which was released in March 2004, just a month after the Super Bowl." "Moonves ordered Viacom properties VH1 and MTV, and all Viacom-owned radio stations, to stop playing Jackson's songs and music videos," Huff Post reported in 2018. At the time, Jackson apologized, and the phrase "wardrobe malfunction" was coined, but then-CBS executive Les Moonves believed the incident had been intentional, according to reports. During the show, Justin Timberlake pulled off a panel of her costume, and accidentally exposed her right breast to the 140 million viewers. It's impossible to discuss Jackson, however, without talking about the infamous 2004 Super Bowl performance which many credit for derailing her career. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 after 11 studio albums, most recently 2015's "Unbreakable." She was awarded the MTV Video Vanguard in 1990 at age 24, still the youngest person to ever win. The 55-year-old has won numerous Grammys, Billboard Music Awards, VMAs. It topped the Billboard 200 albums chart.Īxelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic/Getty Images In March 2021, he released his sixth studio album, "Justice," on which he controversially sampled Martin Luther King Jr.'s speeches. Many of the songs focus on his new wife, Hailey Bieber. The 27-year-old released his first album in five years, "Changes," in 2020. In 2017, he appeared on a remix of the Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi song "Despacito." It eventually topped the charts and became the first mostly Spanish-language Hot 100 No. His first rebound began with 2015's "Purpose," which became a smash hit - though he canceled the tour due to exhaustion. It often indicates a user profile.Īs many child stars do, Bieber went through an extremely public rough patch - he was arrested for a DUI, regularly appeared in tabloids for various scandalous activities (insulting Bill Clinton, getting papped without any clothes on, his up-and-down relationship with Selena Gomez, etc.), and struggled with substance abuse.
